SUMMARY:Beyond the Mammogram: Implementing Comprehensive Breast Cancer Screening in Health Centers
DESCRIPTION:Register Here \nJoin Dr. Susan Vadaparampil\, an internationally recognized breast cancer researcher at Moffitt Cancer Center\, for a practical session on comprehensive breast cancer screening in health centers. Dr. Vadaparampil is a Senior Member and Professor in Moffitt’s Department of Health Outcomes and Behavior and has served since 2018 as its inaugural Associate Center Director for Community Outreach and Engagement. A former member of the National Cancer Advisory Board and Moffitt’s 2025 Researcher of the Year\, she has published more than 360 scientific manuscripts. Her research spans the breast cancer continuum\, from prevention and early detection through survivorship\, and has informed strategies to increase uptake of evidence-based screening\, including breast MRI\, among individuals at elevated risk. This session explores approaches to breast cancer screening and risk assessment\, including mammography\, supplemental breast MRI\, and genetic testing. Attendees will review current guidelines\, national utilization trends\, implementation challenges\, and practical strategies for integrating comprehensive breast cancer screening services into health center settings. \nLearning Objectives: \nBy the end of this webinar\, participants will be able to: \n\nDescribe the roles of mammography and breast MRI in breast cancer screening.\nApply current guideline recommendations for risk assessment and screening.\nIdentify utilization trends and multilevel barriers and facilitators affecting use of screening and risk assessment.\nDiscuss practical approaches to implementing a comprehensive approach to breast cancer early detection in health centers.

SUMMARY:Increasing Cancer Screening: Creating Trust & Psychological Safety Through Trauma-Informed Communication
DESCRIPTION:Register Here \nFor many patients\, cancer screening can bring feelings of fear\, uncertainty\, vulnerability\, or concerns shaped by previous healthcare experiences. How healthcare professionals communicate before\, during\, and after screening conversations can influence a patient’s willingness to ask questions\, express concerns\, and take the next step toward completing recommended screening. \nThis 90-minute webinar explores how trauma-informed communication can help healthcare professionals create confidence and psychological safety during cancer screening interactions. Participants will examine how trauma\, stress\, and past experiences can affect communication\, decision-making\, and engagement with healthcare services—and how everyday interactions can either strengthen or unintentionally undermine confidence. \nLearning Objectives: \nBy the end of this webinar\, participants will be able to: \n\nDefine trauma and recognize how trauma and stress can influence communication\, behavior\, decision-making\, and engagement in cancer screening.\nDefine psychological safety and identify communication behaviors that can build or diminish confidence and a sense of safety during patient and team interactions.\nRecognize communication barriers that may contribute to patient hesitation\, fear\, or disengagement from recommended cancer screening.\nApply trauma-informed listening and speaking techniques to strengthen rapport\, trust\, and psychological safety during cancer screening conversations.\nUse practical communication strategies to support patient engagement across key points in the screening process\, including outreach\, scheduling\, screening discussions\, and follow-up.
